The Cold Holy War.

There are many layers to the oppression of immigrants, in our time.

Because of 9/11, both the cause and perpetrators of which have never actually been proven, immigrants of a particular religious persuasion are regarded as suspect by those who assign terroristic activity in a broad swath to anyone to which the alleged 9/11 terrorists’ religion ascribes – namely, Islam.

It isn’t immigration the objectors resist; it’s the threat of infiltrating terrorism, driven by a belief that those who practice Islam are intent upon destroying everyone who does not.

They falsely assign the threat of terrorism to every immigrant woman wearing a head covering, every immigrant whose skin is a particular shade of brown, and every immigrant whose surname begins with Al.

What we are embroiled in, presently, is the secondary effect of a not-so-cold, holy war.

Never before has the separation of church and state been more relevant, been more vital, been more required, if we as Americans are to survive as a nation.

As for the holy war, we must leave that to those who practice religion.

If the government attempts to assign value to anything based in religious persuasion, it is already out of its lane; unfortunately, such assignments are being made, every day, by those in power.

President Trump was described recently by the news media, following his obvious tacit acceptance of the rally chant against the Congresswoman: “Send Her Back!”,  as an “old-world segregationist”.

Perhaps society needs to take a straight ahead look at itself. To what extent do cultural groups self-segregate, and to what end does doing so protect and sustain culture itself? People of similar ilk stay close together. When they do not, or when they are forced apart – such as when Hurricane Katrina scattered the Creole population in the Gulf of Mexico – how do they survive?

Many old world beliefs, discarded by progressives intent upon a new world order, had value. Educated people can distinguish between what is old and worthy, vs. what is archaic and outmoded.

But, President Trump represents neither.

The Altar Call.

Well.

Woody Allen is a brilliant storyteller, screenwriter, and director.
And, he’s probably, on some level, a criminal.
Yet, I still love the body of his creative work.
(I mean, seriously. His insights, into American character and human relationship ?) …there is none like him, no; not one.

And, I cannot justify that love. Not with law. Not with anything.
It’s unjustifiable.

Likewise, Hillary Clinton may be guilty. Of many things. So, also, might Donald Trump. Who am I to say?

Speaking only for myself, I must acknowledge that I cannot know.

I can, however, acknowledge that, across all systems in this world of marketing and promotion, there is a level of player, in an anonymous strata, that stops at nothing. It stops at nothing, in the act of promoting its figurehead, grasping, in the hopes of some reward or recompense or even personal advancement. And, through that window of possibility, greed and corruption drop their fecalith. And, in that hardened piece of excrement, a seed is carried. That seed finds soil, and takes root. And, what grows can defy both expectation and imagination.

Now, I also grew up bathed in the shimmer and aura of the Gospel preacher. I learned to believe that the words which poured from the mouth of the great orator were practically inspired by God. I learned to fear the presence of the Holy Spirit, descending upon the throng. And, I learned to shudder, deep within my soul, at the power of the words themselves.

As Americans we’ve all, if our minds were truly unbiased and open, heard the two political gospels this month: the gospel of Trump, and the gospel of Clinton. And, all the little henchpeople, exploited or no, in between. I just hope that God preserves our individual capacities for comprehension, reason, and clarity of thought long enough for us to make our very powerful decisions, each of us distinctly, when the time appointed arrives. May we consider all of our choices both wisely, and informatively, with prudence, humility, and internal calm, for the next rightful leader of the free world. And, if we cannot, then I pray God Almighty makes the next move on our behalf. Lord knows, we’ve never needed Providence like we do now.

The Climate of Corruption.

Yeah. Okay. Weak title. (How can corruption have a climate?) The grammarians will get me, right out of the gate.

But, kids, we live in one.

I’m letting Donald Trump pontificate while I practice Bach. Now, there’s a dichotomy.

Are we getting the frantic atmosphere, anymore?

The Gee Oh Pee boys are in full on playground recess rumble. The crowd goes wild. The crowd. Where’s the beer? Oh, there. Fill me up, buddy. Ya got bikers, with an assault weapon collection sitting in their den, standing next to the fresh frosh from Liberty U. Ya got the new monied real estate acquisitionists (mark that) spread trading on their iPhones, next to the women who just came out of the kitchen (know it.) Yeah, yeah. Stereotyping? I don’t have to. It’s the Mega Church meets MAAD Magazine.

When I hear that Washington will be completely upheaved, figuratively burned to the ground, OF COURSE I DREAM. But, then, I w.a.k.e. u.p.  Because, the President doesn’t make a.l.l. the decisions. The President must collaborate. And, last time I checked, collaboration isn’t a bully’s strong suit.

But, actually, at this point, I even wonder if a single vote will ultimately count. That’s where I fall on this Friday afternoon. The technological revolution has taken over, and the drivers at the helm, bought and paid for to tweak the machines……I can’t decide if the Democrats will dictate, or the GOP, or Donald Trump, who could effectively buy anything(BUT WITH HIS OWN MONEY)……. I only know that the most cunning, the most stealthy, the most aggressive, and the most determined crook will likely pull the last lever.

God, bless America. Wherever you are, please remember us. We just woke up one morning to a glorious country, and grew up believing in it. Our parents did, too. They provided for our future, sure that this was the only place where we could hope to have one. How were we to know that the truth would be taken from us, and never given back?
