Thanks, OF. It’s not too forced, then? The original left out the whole rhyming stanza about reason and figments, but I felt I had to honor form for form’s sake. Ending the thing with a metaphor seemed too jarring, too “stand alone”…….some pieces write themselves; this was not one of them..

No, it flows very nicely, the termination at the end works very well too, I hadn’t anticipated it, but it fitted so well, it seemed prescient!

Poor cat, I let her out, but I waited to see her off, and she came back in – unusual normally, but there is an amorous male cat been hanging around this last few days, he’s huge, and very much in love!! He sits outside and howls for hrs!
