The Novelist.

Who was the girl
in the novel?
a neighbor?
a friend?
.
Whence came
the characters
told in the tale?
A blend,
.
released to
the ether,
to play out
the err
of their way
.
Colored,
dressed
in the shade
of some
casual play?
.
Stewards
of right
moral minions
of everything good
.
Ready
cover
for deeds done in secret
that would
.
rather hide
inside prose
and the poet’s device
.
ascertaining
the cunning.
She shrouds,
making nice
.
at the book signing
smiling
to greet
every guest,
and

.
the
marketing
genius
who turns
every head,
lest
.
the readers,
who follow
each word,
find the books
in
.
the corners
and cubbies
and nooks of the shelf
(never
read…)

as the novelist,
star of the show,
steals
the story
of somebody else

instead of

revealing

herself.
